Nepal Hapkido Association
In 2008, Grand Master Kali Bahadur Gharti Magar, after extensive training in Korea, established the Nepal Hapkido Association.
The initial focus was on training and awareness, with workshops conducted in schools, colleges, and security forces.
By 2012, Hapkido had started gaining recognition, with practitioners participating in national and regional competitions.
The first official Hapkido tournament in Nepal was organized, marking a significant milestone in its growth.

The Nepal Hapkido Association (NHA) was founded in 2008 by Grand Master Kali Bahadur Gharti Magar with the vision of introducing and promoting Hapkido in Nepal. What began as a small initiative has now expanded into a nationwide movement, reaching all 7 provinces and 65 districts.
Hapkido rapidly expanded, establishing branches in multiple districts.
In 2016, the National Sports Council (NSC) of Nepal officially recognized the Nepal Hapkido Association, giving it legitimacy in the national sports framework.
The association introduced structured belt-ranking systems, training modules, and instructor certification programs, ensuring uniformity in training.
Nepalese athletes began competing in international Hapkido championships, bringing recognition to Nepal on the global stage.
Expansion and National Recognition (2015-2020)
Today, Hapkido is practiced by thousands across Nepal, with training provided to youth, women, security personnel, and athletes.
The Nepal Hapkido Association continues to organize national tournaments, self-defense workshops, and community programs to promote safety and discipline.

Grand Master Kali Bahadur Gharti Magar founded the Nepal Hapkido Association (NHA) in 2008 with a vision to empower individuals, promote self-defense, and develop a disciplined society through Hapkido. Journey
Early Life and Inspiration
Born in a humble background, Kali Bahadur Gharti Magar was drawn to self-discipline and physical training from a young age. His journey in Hapkido began when he traveled to South Korea, where he trained rigorously under top masters, mastering the techniques and philosophy of Hapkido.
Bringing Hapkido to Nepal (2008)
Recognizing the potential of Hapkido to empower Nepalese society, he returned to Nepal and established the Nepal Hapkido Association (NHA) in 2008. The early years were challenging, as Hapkido was relatively unknown in Nepal. Despite obstacles, he worked tirelessly to spread awareness, conducting training sessions in schools, colleges, security forces, and local communities.
Hapkido reached all 7 provinces and 65 districts.
Nepalese athletes participated in national and international competitions.
